You Came Along And Helped Me Believe

I have mentioned many times on this blog my love for David Myles, a Canadian singer. Another Canadian singer that I really like is Measha Brueggergosman. What happens when you mix David Myles with Measha Brueggergosman? Besides amazing, you get this:

Also, the lovely Annah from The Five Facets, was nice enough to have me guest post yesterday. You can fine it here.

La Belle Province

Everyone knows how much I love Canada and for the longest time, I wanted to showcase Canada on my blog. So, I've decided  to ask Canadian bloggers to answer 5 questions about their province.

This week, Christine who bloggers over at Kouisse's Korner, is answering questions about Quebec.

1. Where are you from:
I was born and raised in Gatineau, Québec. In 2005, I married a Canadian Army Officer and we moved a little bit all over. When my hubby retired from the army in 2011, we decided that we needed to settle some roots and we moved back to my hometown of Gatineau in the province of Québec.

2. Favorite thing about your province:
I love that we have very distinct seasons. It is very hot and humid in the Summer. We have great foliage in the Fall. We almost have a lot of snow and freezing weather in the Winter then the Spring brings rain and the flowers start to bloom.

3. What is your region (province and/or city) known for:
Gatineau is the 4th biggest city in the province of Québec. It is located on the northern banks of the Ottawa River, immediately across from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada’s National Capital.

4. Where to:
a) Stay:
I have a fabulous second bedroom where you can stay for free… seriously, the Hilton Lac-Leamy is by choice the nicest place to stay while visiting the Gatineau area and it’s also interconnected to the casino that makes for great entertainment for the evenings.

b) Eat:
Any one visiting the province of Québec must try a Poutine. It is made up of french fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds. My favorite place to eat poutine is at Routine Poutine. You can check out the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RoutinePoutine

Another restaurant that I like to suggest to people while visiting Québec is “Les Rotisseries St-Hubert”. They are known for their roasted chicken and delicious coleslaw. There is a “St-Hub” in almost every city of Québec. Please visit their website at www.st-hubert.com

c) Go/what to do: A must place to visit during this time of the year is the Gatineau Hills. It is a prime tourist attraction particularly during the October weeks when the foliage is turning colour. It is also a dream place for any photographer or painter. The Gatineau Hills also offers great hiking trails in the summer.

5. A "must know" about your province:
Without a doubt I love the French culture that my province has to offer. The province of Québec is the only region in North America with a French-speaking majority.

Thanks Christine for taking the time to answer these questions!

Hey! It's Ok

Idea taken from Amber at Airing My Dirty Laundry One Sock At A Time.

To need a break. Sometimes that's the only thing that can make life better.

That I tried ear candling last night. It was relaxing, cool and a little bit gross all at the same time. I have issues with my ears (frequent ear aches) and I've been stuffy and congested for awhile now. I have noticed a difference in my sinuses but my ears are still bothering me a bit.

To love everything salted caramel. It's just really good.

That I am going to attempt to bake this weekend. I haven't baked in ages but I'm going to make the attempt in honour of a friends baby shower. Wish me luck!

To think that the US government is ridiculous for shutting down over healthcare. I'm happy I'm Canadian...and not just because we have government provided healthcare.

That regular season hockey starts tonight!!! GO RANGERS!!!!
