Earlier this week, I was listening to some old playlists and came across this song, which I have since been listening to on repeat; I forgot how much I love it!!
Whole To My Half by Measha Brueggergosman feat David Myles
This is one of my current favourite songs. It's fun to sing and dance around to. Plus, it's kind of applicable. We all have an ex that broke our heart, but that break up actually made us better...maybe even improved our lives.
The Tragically Hip is the quasi-essential Canadian band. Everyone knows who The Hip are, and if you're not fan, you still appreciate their music and can acknowledge what they mean to the Canadian music industry, and Canada as a whole. When I was in University, I wrote paper on what The Hip meant to our National Identity and how they embodied Canada as a country and a culture.
It was announced a few months ago that Gord Downie was battling cancer and that The Hip would embark on one final tour. The last show of the tour-the last Tragically Hip concert- is tomorrow in Kingston, Ontario. It is a sold out show, but it will be broadcast live on CBC and many communities are doing screenings.
Like many Canadians, I am a Hip fan. My favourite album is My Music @ Work and in honour of The Hip and Gord Downie, I thought I would share the title track of that album:
My Music At Work by The Tragically Hip
Live at Rogers Arena in Vancouver BC- July 26, 2016
I have decided, after years of blogging, that I would jump on the 'currently' blog posts. I always enjoy reading other blogger's 'currently' posts, so I thought I would do my own, so here we go:
I had some shocking and upsetting news late last week. Yesterday (which is when I wrote this post) was the first time I was really able to process that news. My heart hurts more than I thought it would. But I know things will be ok, everything happens for a reason, and that things will work out the way they were meant too.
I am on the hunt for a 2017 agenda. I usually get a Lilly Pulitzer agenda, but am thinking about trying a Kate Spade agenda this year. I wouldn't mind being the owner of the Kate Spade agenda pictured here.
Happy Wednesday!! We are half way through the week and I am counting down the days until the weekend- another summer weekend spent at the beach!! In my opinion, there are a lot of things that make summer...well, summer. One of those things is music. While we listen to music throughout the year, we always have music playing during the summer- especially when we are outside. Whether it's hanging out in the backyard, on a patio, or down at the beach, music is there to add to the experience.
One song that I am currently loving- I can't get it out of my head and I think it's a great summer song- is this one:
Me Too by Megan Trainor
This song makes me want to have a dance party on the patio. Maybe, I should do that this weekend!!
Happy Friday!! While this has been a good week, full of lots of positives, I'm so happy it's Friday!! I am ready for this weekend!! A high school teacher, who was- along with his wife- a huge influence on my life, is retiring today after 32 years of teaching!! While I am excited for him, and this new journey, I am a little sad for the students who will not have the opportunity to learn from him.
Something else exciting today? Not only will I be celebrating a sweet friends birthday with her tonight, but we will also be celebrating her becoming a Canadian citizen!! A friend since high school, and one of my favourite people, I'm thrilled to be sharing and celebrating this milestone with her!!
This will be a fun weekend, the last one of January, and then we are into my birthday month! While I don't have anything specific planned for this birthday, I do have some fun things planned this month- which I cannot wait for!
I wanted to share a song with all of you. Not only do I love Andy Grammer, but I think his new song is the perfect song to kick-off the weekend!!
Oh my gosh...I can't believe how close we are to Christmas!! I absolutely love the holiday season and everything associated with it! I am hosting a Pod Pal Christmas tonight...I'm excited to spend time with my Pod Pals aka two co-workers outside of work, to be reunited with our summer student Pod Pal and our honourary Pod Pal (who filled in for summer student when we went to the haunted house). My cousin, who moved to town two weeks ago, will also be joining us. Today is also my last day at work before a week and a half off!! I love my job, but I am excited to be spending some time in two places I consider home, and seeing friends and family.
One disappointment this holiday season, was not being able to find my David Myles Christmas CD. I have no idea where it is. One of my favourite songs on the album, and one of my all time favourite songs, is Santa Never Brings Me A Banjo, which I thought I would share with all of you today!! Enjoy!!
There are so many great Christmas songs, and youtube videos to accompany them. My favourite Christmas song changes on a daily basis- especially during the holidays! One of my favoruite Christmas related youtube videos- and I'm pretty sure I post this every year- is this one:
While driving last weekend, the song Bright came on the radio. I had never heard it before, but instantly liked it. It's been awhile since I shared a song on the blog, so I thought I would share this one...enjoy!!
If you know a thing or two about me, you know that I love Luke Bryan!! I am so excited about his new album, so I thought I would share one of the singles from his new album.
One of my favourite songs this summer, and one that I cannot get out of my head or stop singing is this song:
Honey I'm Good by Andy Grammar
Now I'm going to have this song stuck in my head all day. The goal is to get the photos form Pan Am from my phone to my computer tonight, so that tomorrow I can share some Pan Am details.
Happy Wednesday!! For those of you living in Canada, remember that today is Camp Day at Tim Hortons. For everyone else, don't forget to enter the Fun in the Sun Summer Giveaway, where you can win $450 cash!
Today I thought I would share a song that I just cannot get out of my head...
Happy Wednesday! The past week has been...challenging. I've been hit with three different pieces of frustrating news in less than a week. I will be honest, it's tough. I'm trying to put everything aside, not get upset, have faith, move on.
When that fails, I turn to distraction, like this song:
Say Hello by Luke McMaster
I had the opportunity to see Luke McMaster perform in March. He was opening for David Myles (who I Love) at Brock University. I believe this is the song he used to open his set. This song makes me want to dance and it just makes me feel happy.
Happy Friday!! This has been such a busy week- in a good way- for me and I'm happy to escape for a couple of days of solitude- and binge watching Suits on Netflix.
As everyone knows I am a HUGE David Myles fan so I thought I would share one of my favourite songs by him:
Happy Wednesday!!! I had planned to post a book review today, but then I realized that I haven't read any books in awhile!! I LOVE to read and I know that I haven't had the chance to pick up a book in a long time, I just didn't realize how long it's been! I'll definitely have to change that.
In place of a book review, I thought I would share one of my favourite songs. This song is back from my university days and bring back some special memories.
I am so happy it's Thursday! I had the BUSIEST week last week! I usually work 70 hours in a 14 hour pay period. Last week, I worked over 80 hours in 6 days. It was excessive and exhausting! But, it means I only have to work half a day today and I'm off tomorrow!!
For the first time all month, I will be heading out of town for the weekend- if the weather cooperates! I'm looking forward to some peace and quit, reading and relaxing...just getting away to clear my head.
I'll be driving about an hour and half away from the city, and since I recently found my-lost-for-over-two-years Dave Matthews Band CD, you can bet that's what I'll be listening to on my drive.
I love so many DMB songs, but this is one of my favourites:
How great is this song? I'll definitely have it on repeat!
Happy Friday!! This has been a crazy week- getting caught up after being off for a week, attending a conference in Toronto and finalizing an event for today. I'm happy the week is almost here, not that I'll have much time to relax.
With life being so hectic, I didn't have a chance to upload any of the pictures from my trip...hopefully next week.
To end the week/start off the weekend, I thought I'd share a song that was constantly being played at the resort we stayed at. I love this song! Every time it played, people were singing and dancing a long wherever they were; the beach, poolside or riding around the resort in a gold cart.
If this song doesn't make you want to be poolside with a drink in hand, having fun...I don't know what will!!
Happy Friday!!! This week seemed never ending...and I still have a full work day ahead of me! It has been a busy week. I was sad to see my other half from work leave for an exciting new opportunity. It's been weird not talking to her several times a day, not to mention that the plan at the moment is for me to do her job, so work will be even more busy and hectic. Socially, it's been a busy week too; dinners and an elementary school concert.
I'm looking forward to the weekend. It should be pretty low key; I have a ton of stuff to do around the apartment, I need to get caught up on some blog stuff and Kentucky Derby is tomorrow!!! I will, of course, be watching.
I thought a great way to end the week is with one of my (current) favourite songs:
White Flag by Royal Wood
How great is this song? How great is Royal Wood? My sister and I saw him at Brock University in February...this is a singer that everyone needs to see live! Words cannot describe how amazing it was! He released a new album in March and it has been playing on repeat since, about a month and a half...love!
Happy Thursday everyone! Today is a day that I have both been looking forward to AND dreading. As most of you know, I work in non-profit fundraising and I have an event tonight! It should be a pretty fun event but I'm dreading the 14+ hour day I have ahead of me (on top of the 12+ hour day I had yesterday). I'll definitely enjoy the event while it's happening but I'll be happy once it's over so that I can get some sleep!!
As part of my birthday celebrations, my sister and I went to see Royal Wood (with special guest David Myles). It was such a great night out with my sister! My love for David Myles is WELL documented, but I'm also a fan of Royal Wood...both of them are really great and everyone should see them live.
Anyway...just thought I would share Royal Wood's new single!! I love this song and am currently playing it on repeat.
On Tuesday, I shared Part I of the Bedtime Stories baby shower that was hosted for a co-worker/friend and had planned on posting more details of the shower today. However, time got away from me (thanks work, meetings and life) and I didn't have a chance to upload the pictures yet.
So, in a totally unrelated topic, I wanted to share this YouTube video:
Royals by Pentatonix
I LOVE Pentatonix and I love their cover of this song!!
