Book, Song, Body

Book- Remembering Christmas was one of those books I couldn't put down. Rick Denton finds himself back in Florida after his stepfather, Art, experiences health problems. His mother asked him to look after their book store while Art recovers, which Rick reluctantly agrees too. We find out that Rick resents Art and frequently thinks back to his biological father, who he had hoped would come back into his life. It's clear that Rick is unhappy to be back in Florida and that he can't wait to get back to his own life.

As Art recovers, with Rick's mother at Art's side the entire story, we see the relationship and softness Rick develops with his part-time co-worker Andrea, his attitude towards the homeless- specifically JD, and meet the customer's of the store. While there is a Christian overtone to the book, I would still recommend it.

What I love about this story? Besides the beautiful way it is written, this book is a reminder that not everything is what it seems. It is also a great display of holiday spirit and reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas and what is important in life.

Song- Handel's "Messiah" the Hallelujah Chorus as performed by Chorus Niagara. This was a flash mob that was done last year. It's a beautiful rendition- something worth seeing and hearing.

With Christmas quickly approaching, I wanted to throw another great song out there; 12 Days of Christmas by Straight No Chaser.

Body- Ice Blue Soap by Lush. A couple of years ago, I received a gift pack for Christmas and this soap was part of it. While I'm not crazy about the smell (which isn't even THAT bad), I love this soap! I love the fact that there is sea salt in the soap. I have super dry skin, so the sea salt acts like a great exfoliate, my skin always feels so clean after using this soap.
