Hey! It's Ok

Idea taken from Amber at Airing My Dirty Laundry One Sock At A Time   That I was so excited about this months 5 Questions! Brittany Toll, who I admire and who inspires me so much, agreed to participate. I feel so honoured and am extremely grateful to her. Definately a highlight of my blogging experience and my life (getting to "talk" to an role model of mine)!   To be devastated- in a dramatic way- that Joffrey Lupul has signed to play in the KHL this year, since so much of the NHL season has been cancelled. And I'm not even a Leafs fan...   To be happy that today is election day. I'm kind of tired of hearing about all things election. I hope Obama gets re-elected for the simple fact that I 100% disagree with Romney and his position on women's issues. If I were an American woman, I would be very scared to have Romney as my president.   That I can't wait to see the season finale of Breaking Amish and the interview "Tell All" afterwards. This show is my guilty pleasure and it comforts me to know so many other people who are addicted to this show but don't want to admit it.

5 Questions- Brittany Toll

I am so, so, so excited to introduce this months 5 Questions participant- Brittany Toll! Brittany blogs over at Happy Brittany- which really IS the Cutest Blog on the Block- and was Miss New Mexico USA 2011. To me, the most admirable and impressive thing about Brittany is that she is so dedicated to closing the education gap! She's a former Teach for America Corps member and a current staff member. Her passion for what she does, for closing the education gap, is so inspiring.

Here are Brittany's answers to 5 Questions:

1. Something on your bucket list: 
Travel the Grecian Islands.
 
2. Best piece of advice and/or favourite saying/quote: 
The book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz gave me some of the best advice I have ever heard. I have re-read it a few times now and hearing about the Four Agreements never gets old.
Those agreements are:
1. Be impeccable with your word
2. Don’t take anything personally

3. Don’t make assumptions and

4. Always do your best.

If you read the book the detailed descriptions of each help you internalize how to follow the Four Agreements and apply them to your life.
 
3. Favourite place:
Las Cruces, New Mexico
a) Where to stay:
The Hotel Encanto
b) Where to eat:
Breakfast: Mesilla Valley Kitchen Lunch: Andales Dinner: La Posta
c) What to see/do: Check out the Plaza at Old Mesilla full of a beautiful old buildings and churches, food, shopping, entertainment (look up happenings before you go) and rich with culture of the Spanish-Mexican-American southwest.
 
4. You're given $10,000 and 24 hours to spend it. You can't give it to other people, invest it or save it. What would you do:  
I’d pay off all of my debt, plain and simple. I have incurred a lot from traveling, competing at Miss USA and moving to new cities & places. 
 
5. Historical figure or fictional character you'd like to be:  
Alice from Alice in Wonderland. I actually feel that I relate to her a lot with her curiosity and hunger for adventure and who wouldn’t want to spend their time in Wonderland and reconnect with their gratitude for the real-world?

Sunday Social

Weekends need to be longer than 2 days- and I know a lot of people agree with me on that one! The past 3 Saturdays, I've been helping my dad (a politician) with an important issue that he's been working on. It's not really something I can write about now, but will soon. 

This afternoon, I will be attending a fundraising event to support the Go Girls! Program run by Big Brothers Big Sisters. It should be a fun event and I'm looking forward to it. Tonight, I'll be going to a hockey game! It's a junior game, which I haven't been to in years. I've been invited to the press box, so how could I turn it down? I actually don't mind junior hockey and used to go to all of the home games when I was in high school and university.

  What is currently on your wish list? Bar/bar cart for my apartment, Tassimo, Liz Cabral's bag from Aldo, nice pair of black flats
Share a new iphone, droid, ipad app you have recently discovered that we all need I have a Blackberry, so N/A

What is a new Fall TV show you have added to your DVR?
Sadly, there aren't any new shows that are a 'must see' for me. I was kind of disappointed this year.

I like them both for different reasons. I'm going to give Twitter the slight edge of being a 'favourite' just because if it weren't for Twitter, I wouldn't really know what's going on in the world. I get the majority of my news and information from Twitter- including links to news articles and updates on what happened on the latest reality show.

Favourite Thing

While I am happy it's Friday and I am so looking forward to the weekend, this week has flown by too quickly! Not to mention, I blinked and October was over! I had a great, but busy, week. I accomplished a lot at work, had the opportunity to network at and participate in a forum yesterday on senior housing, celebrated my grandma's birthday and volunteered.

I am a HUGE Luke Bryan fan! All of his albums are on heavy rotation on my ipod and as an added bonus, it's not to hard to look at him! While watching the CMA's, I was reminded how much of a crush I have on him and how much I love his music. How big is my crush? Well, I do have a board on Pinterest dedicated to him, which you can see here. (A little lame? Maybe...but I try not to think about it =)
