Wild Rose Country

Everyone knows how much I love Canada and for the longest time, I have wanted to showcase Canada on my blog. So, I've decided to ask Canadian bloggers to answer 5 questions about their province.

This week, Jmeyersforeman, is answering questions about Alberta.

1. Where are you from:
I have lived in Calgary Alberta more than 25 years, but I am from Biggar Saskatchewan!

2. Favourite thing about your province:
Within a 100 miles radius, mountains, prairies, badlands-dinosaur park, rodeos, fairs, skiing, fishing, and the big blue sky that goes on forever.

3. What is your region (province and/or city) known for:
The Calgary Stampede, reported to be the Greatest Outdoor Show in the world, The 1988 Winter Olympics, Oil, Spruce Meadows and International Horse Jumping.

4. Where to:
a) Stay:
Hotel Le Germain if you are staying in the City, Rafter 6 if you want that rural, ranch experience that is close to the mountains.
b) Eat:
If you are coming for the stampede make sure you get out for a pancake breakfast. If you are here at another time, the Open Range Steak House.
c) Go/what to do:
Come for the Stampede, it's a great party. If you are here during the winter, we have some of the best skiing in North America just an hour out of the city.

5. A "must know" about your province:
Dress in layers, weather changes can be extreme and frequent through the day. But there is lots to do in every weather, if you are dressed for it you can enjoy all the city has to offer. If you need something you didn't bring Mountain Equipment Co-op is a great place to get the outdoor gear that you might need.

Thanks Jmeyersforeman for taking the time to answer these questions!! (Check out the blog...the pictures are beautiful!)

Blogtember- Memory

I have decided to participate in Blogtember. It seems like something that would be pretty fun. I have no idea if I'll be able to actually do this, but I'm going to give it a try!

Today's prompt:

A memory you would love to relive.

I have been really lucky to have had a lot of really great moments in my life and it's hard to pick one that I would want to relive...so many good memories. I would love to go back and relive my Muskoka summers, especially the last one...but I feel like that's kinda cheating for this prompt, since I wrote about it last week.

I was going to say prom, which was a lot of fun...but since Brock Homecoming is this weekend, I'm going to say my first night at Brock. I spent a little bit of time with my roommates, who were all in bed by like 8 or 9. Being underage meant I couldn't get into the campus bar (or any bar for that matter) and outside of my roommates, I didn't know anyone, so I decided to unpack.

My room faced out to the courtyard and if you knew the windows, you would know what my room number was (hard to explain...). Anyway, I'm unpacking away and I hear a voice from outside call "Hey! [my room number!" I went to the window and looked out, I was asked what I was doing and I told them I was unpacking. I was told I can unpack anytime, to come down and hang out. So I did.

I sat at a picnic table, in the courtyard, all night. I was the only one who sat there the entire time- hours and hours and hours. But I met so many people. Everyone had to walk past me to get to their rooms and so many people cut through the court to get to where they were going. I talked to everyone who walked by, I talked to everyone who sat at the picnic table.

That night was just another Brock University student. I was on the brink of starting an amazing time in my life. It was a happy, fun, carefree night full of laughter, stories and friendship.
That night was the perfect beginning to my time as a student at Brock and one of my happiest memories there.

Hey It's Ok

Idea taken from Amber at Airing My Dirty Laundry One Sock At A Time.

To be sad that Big Brother ends this week. I love this show! I don't like anyone who's in the final 3...and I was sad to see Judd voted out...but of the remaining 3, I think GinaMarie deserves to win...as much as I don't like her and as sad/funny as I think her season long obsession with Nick is...She's the best option.

That I have a busy week ahead of me and just thinking about it is kinda stressing me out. I know I just have to take a deep breath and just take it one hour at a time. I can do this.

To be counting down the day to Brock Homecoming! I've been looking forward to it for months and it starts on Thursday! I'm going to miss all of Thursday and Friday day events because of work...But I'll be there for Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday. It'll be a really fun weekend!

That I'm going to see David Myles next Monday!I just saw him on Labour Day weekend and he was going to be near me again...so I'm going! I'm taking a co-worker with me and hope to turn her into a fan!

To be excited that hockey is so close to starting! The pre-season started yesterday.

Blogtember- Love Letter

I have decided to participate in Blogtember. It seems like something that would be pretty fun. I have no idea if I'll be able to actually do this, but I'm going to give it a try!

Today's prompt:

Write a public love letter to someone in your life. (It doesn't necessarily need to be romantic.)

Dear New York Rangers,
It's hard to believe that we have been in a relationship for almost 10 years! The time has gone quickly and I would like to say that I loved every minute of it. But we both know that isn't true. We have had many, many times together that were pure frustration. I may have made you sleep on the floor and I may have gone through bouts of not talking to you...but I was always faithful. I was always loyal. I was always your biggest fan. Yes, I put myself through a lot in our relationship, but I always loved you...even when I was mad at you, I still loved you...I never once wavered in my faith in you. It helped that we had a lot of happy times together...times that I could recall and fall back on when things were less than ideal.

As we get ready to embark on another year together, I want you to know I have high hopes for us...I want this to be the year. I know I'm putting a lot of pressure on you to reach the pinnacle of our time together- raising the Stanley Cup. I hope this is the year. Regardless of what happens, I will be proud of you. But I will only be really proud if you are the champions this year.

I trust you won't let me down too much and that you will do your very best to eliminate those frustrating moments in our relationship.I want you to know, regardless of what happens, I will always be the Ranger Faithful.

All my love,
Melissa
