Favourite Thing- Co-Workers Turned Friends

Anyone who knows me, know that I am a social person. When I lived in midwestern, rural Ontario, my social life left something to be desired- I was making one friend a year who was only in town for a short time.

I switched to my second job in the area, meet some wonderful, amazing and fun ladies, who have turned out to be some of the best friends a girl could ask for.

When we were co-workers/friends, we would go out for dinner about once a month. It was just a time for us to socialize in a non-worker environment. I left that job in May and later moved to southern Ontario. Facebook and texting has kept me touch with these ladies, but I haven't seen them since June!

I had to make the trip back up here to pick up some clothes for a wedding this weekend and I thought I should have dinner with these ladies while I'm in town. They were nice enough to clear their schedules and join me for dinner at Boston Pizza.

I had to drive an hour and half to get here, I burnt the rough of my mouth on goat cheese & spinach dip, ate so much food that I was uncomfortably full and will have to get up at the crack of dawn to make it into work on time...being with amazing friends, getting caught up and the laughter was more than worth it.

While I think about and miss them on a daily basis, I didn't realize how much I missed them until we were all together again.

Our dinners are one of my favourite things and I hope we can still do them often.

"Chance made us co-workers. Choice made us friends."

Saturday Shopping & Homecoming

Last weekend, I went home for a friends birthday celebration. It was so great to celebrate with him and to see old friends.

Prior to the party, I spent the day with my sister. I love spending time with my sister, but it's something we rarely get to do. We started by having lunch at one of my favourite restaurants. I had soup and buffalo chicken fingers. My sister had salad and Asian chicken bites.

When we were done lunch, we headed to the mall. I was on the lookout for a pair of black ballet flats. which I didn't find. I am also lusting after this bag (which I didn't find because it wasn't available yet) from Aldo:

While I am often at the mall (I was there the day before to get my hair done), I rarely walk around and check out the different stores.I was so surprised, and happy, to see that there was a Yankee Candle! Of course we stopped in and took our time trying the different scents. I did end up buying some wax melts:
When we were done shopping, we stopped at Teavana. Teavana is this really cool shop. Not only do they carry tea products, but they also have a tea bar. My sister, who loves tea, had never been. She ended up ordering a raspberry iced tea and I had a coconut blended tea.
On our way home, we decided to stop by Brock University. I am a Brock grad and my sister is thinking of going there next year. I loved my time at Brock! The weekend before, was Alumni Weekend, which I sadly couldn't attend. But when my sister and I were on campus, there was still some Brock Days celebrating going on. Everyone was at the pub (which we didn't go to because my sister is underage), there were games of flag football going on and everyone was dressed in red (one of the school colours).

My sister and I walked around campus and throughout the school. I pointed out my old lecture halls, where my friends and I would hang out, other campus favourite spots. It was fun reliving my undergrad days, remembering stories.
It was weird being back on campus but it was also really great to go back.

Hey! It's Ok

To be considering joining Leaf Nation (Toronto Maple Leaf fans) solely because of Joffrey Lupul. I am still a die hard Rangers fan and nothing will change that. But Joffrey Lupul *sigh* =)

To be excited about Thanksgiving this weekend! I am not a fan of Thanksgiving food, but I love being home and with my family. Plus, my grandmother usually makes lasagna...yum!

To drive almost 2 hours just to have dinner with friends. You can't put a price or distance on friendship and these ladies are well worth the drive. .

To truly believe that everything happens for a reason and that things work out the way they are supposed to.

To have reconnected with a friend recently after almost 2 years of not speaking to him. He sends the most random text messages, and I love it.

To have had a blast when I went home on the weekend. My friend hosts a party every year for his birthday and I always go home for it. I met some great people, got to see old friends and was entertained by "party tricks" which included planking across another persons arms. Highlight of the night.
